Attack announce Andy Playter as Strength and Conditioning Coach

The Owen Sound Attack and General Manager Dale DeGray is announcing the hiring of Andy Playter as the team’s Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Previously the Head Athletic Therapist for the Owen Sound Attack from 2003-2005, Playter is a native of Owen Sound and has extensive experience as both a Certified Athletic Therapist and a Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Currently the owner of the Owen Sound based Hands-On Sport Therapy and Consulting, Playter began his career in sports as the Assistant Athletic Therapist in 1997 with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League before taking over as the Head Football Athletic Therapist and Strength & Conditioning Coach for Wilfrid Laurier University two years later.
Following his two years with the Attack, Playter moved on to become an Assistant Athletic Therapist with the National Hockey League’s Ottawa Senators, where he worked for three years before becoming the Head Athletic Therapist for the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
After just one season in the AHL, Playter was named the Head Athletic Therapist for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009 where he held the position until returning to Owen Sound and opening Hands-On Sport Therapy & Consulting in 2015.
“We are extremely lucky to have the chance to bring Andy back into our organization,” said DeGray of the hiring.
“He has an unparalleled experience level and will be a tremendous asset to our players and staff moving forward.”
Playter was introduced to players, prospects, and parents at the team’s Awards BBQ on Sunday, June 3.
