REACH.Shoot.Score. goes Saturday
The Owen Sound Attack will look to continue their hot streak with three games in three nights this weekend coming up, including the team’s inaugural REACH. Shoot. Score. game on Saturday, Feb. 24 against the Peterborough Petes.
Winners of nine of their last 10 games, including eight of nine contests in the month of February, the Attack sit in a dogfight for home ice advantage in the Western Conference with the London Knights, sitting at 65 points thanks to a 29-20-2-5 record.
That mark puts Owen Sound three points back of London, who has 68 points on the year and sits in 4th position in the West.
The Attack have a game in hand on the Knights’ however, and will look to put that to use when they travel to Guelph to take on the Storm on Friday, Feb. 23 to begin their weekend of action.
Friday’s contest will mark the 7th meeting of the year between the sides, with the Attack having won each of the two previous meetings between the teams.
Guelph, who holds a 4-2 advantage over Owen Sound in the season series, is currently settled into 7th in the Western Conference with a record of 27-23-2-4, which puts them at 60 points; two back of the Saginaw Spirit.
Nick Suzuki will lead the Attack into action on Friday night, having just been named the team’s Huron Tractor Supply Player of the Week. Sitting at 79 points after putting up a pair of assists against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Monday, Feb. 19, Suzuki sits 4th in the OHL scoring race (prior to Wednesday’s OHL games) and is on pace for 98 points on the year, which would better his career high of 96 set last season.
The Storm continue to be paced by draft eligible defenceman Ryan Merkley who has 58 points on the season; one more than fellow draft eligible skater Aidan Dudas.
Puck drop for Friday night’s contest is set for 7:30pm and can be listened to live on Kia of Owen Sound/Terry’s Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS or by watching on Rogers Local 53.
Following the game, the Attack will head home to take on the Peterborough Petes on Saturday night, Owen Sound’s first ever REACH.Shoot.Score. game.
The game will be rematch of Thursday, Feb. 8th’s game in Peterborough, where the Attack were victorious in a thrilling 6-5 tilt.

Events during Saturday’s will also include a silent auction, the Baywest Motors Inc. Bucket Pass, and the Belwyck Packaging Puck Toss with all monies raised being doing to the REACH Centre, founded in 2014 with the goal of providing meaningful growth and interaction opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities once they had graduated high school. Fans will also be able to purchase a limited number of REACH. Shoot. Score t-shirts on game night as well.
On Wednesday, Feb. 21, the Attack and REACH will host a Celebrity Serve at East Side Mario’s from 6:00pm-8:00pm with the restaurant donating 10% of all food sales to the charitable effort.
