Already into Week 9 of the OHL schedule, Owen Sound is set to take on 3 teams this week, 2 of which are Conference rivals.
On Wednesday November 14th, the Sarnia Sting will come to town, looking to avenge their 2 losses that the Bears handed them earlier this year. Sarnia currently has a record of 7-8-2-2, placing them in 4th in West Division. Over the past 5 years, Owen Sound has boasted a record of 5-2-1-1 against the Sting, and will look to continue this trend at the Bayshore on Wednesday.
Owen Sound won the first matchup of season by a score of 5-2, led by Mitchell Russell and Kevin Hancock whom each netted 2 goals, as well as Hancock adding an assist to win the 1st star with 3 points. The second matchup, the Attack took down the Sting 6-3 in Sarnia on the backs of another 2 goal 1 assist performance by Kevin Hancock, and 2 goals and 2 assists from Captain Nick Suzuki. Goaltender Mack Guzda received the win in both games.
Sarnia has been struggling as of late, losing their last 5 contests. However, Hugo Leufvenius has been on fire, and now sits at 21 points through 19 games in his 2nd season in the OHL, leading Sarnia in points. Centreman Adam Ruzicka is just behind him, with just 3 goals but an impressive 15 assists for 18 points in 18 games.
Puck drop is at 7:00pm, and fans can get their tickets for the game at the MacVicar and McComb Remax Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com or by calling 519.371.7452. The game will be available to watch on Rogers TV local channel 53 as well as on OHL Live.
Following Wednesday’s game, the Bears will hop on the bus to Peterborough to take on the Petes Thursday night. The Attack got the victory in the first matchup of the season, despite Peterborough having a fairly strong start to the season.
The Petes currently sit 3rd in the East Division, with a record of 11-9-0-0. Defenceman Declan Chisholm currently leads the team in points with a remarkable 18 through 20 games. Goalie Hunter Jones has come back down to earth a little after his incredible start, but still carries a cool .927 save percentage and a 2.51 goals against average.

Flint also has a busy week 9, as they play at home on Wednesday night, before travelling to Guelph to try and weather the Storm on Friday, and then head to Owen Sound for Saturday’s matchup.
Flint currently holds a record of 2-17-1 and just 5 points, but won back-to-back games against Sarnia and the powerhouse Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in week 8. This will be the first of 4 matchups between the teams this year, and the Attack will look to build upon their 7-0-0-1 record against the Firebirds over the last 5 years.
Dallas Stars 1st Round Draft Pick in 2018, Ty Dellandrea, currently leads the Birds ins scoring with 21 points in 20 games. His line-mate Jake Durham currently boasts 10 goals and 8 assists in 20 games, and these two have been carrying a lot of the offence for Flint early on. Owen Sound native Connor Roberts will not be in the lineup for Flint Saturday evening, as he is currently out battling an injury. Roberts has played 14 games this year though, mustering up 7 points.
