The 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup host London Knights were the visitors on Wednesday night, but were without 1st Round NHL Picks Max Domi, Michael McCarron, Nikita Zadorov and Olli Maatta
Brandon Hope got the nod in goal for the Attack while Anthony Stolarz stood opposite him.
Kurtis Gabriel was the odd man out in the overage situation for the Attack, while Stefano Pezzetta was serving the first of his eight game suspension.
Despite back and forth play, the Attack were in a hole that they would need to crawl out of. Halfway through the 2nd period the Knights would hold a 3-0 lead on goals by Tierney, Horvat and Liberati. Horvat’s goal was his first since being returned to the Knights by the Vancouver Canucks.
The Attack would begin claw when Justin Brack’s wrister from the slot found its way past Horvat in the 2nd period. Rose and Gabor picked up the assists and we went to the dressing room down 3-1.
The Attack would need to strike first in the third period and they did just that as Zach Nastasiuk slipped a wristed through the legs of Stolarz to make it 3-2.
More back and forth action would ensue and the Attack would have a 5 on 3 man advantage with three minutes remaining but would be unable to capitalize and the Knights would add the ENG.
The Three Stars of the Game were:
3) Miles Liberati (1G
2) Justin Brack (1G, First OHL)
1) Chris Tierney (1G,1A)
