Attack Give Back to Volunteer Usher Community Groups

The Owen Sound Attack announced today the total donation tally the organization is providing to local community charity groups and fundraisers through the Volunteer Usher Program launched prior to this season.

Over a regular season and playoff schedule of 36 home games, the Attack committed to providing a donation to community groups that supplied volunteer ushers. Combined between 14 local volunteer groups, the Attack will be providing contributions totaling $29,100, with the money raised by these organizations helping to fund various local charities, projects, and community-oriented programs in Grey Bruce.

“The first year of this program has been a great success for us.” said Evan Longland, Coordinator, Community Relations with the Attack. “Between re-engaging with local groups and charities and giving back to local community-focused projects, we have been able to make a difference that will be felt locally all over Owen Sound and Grey Bruce. We also hope that this program has provided a platform for these groups to bring in more volunteers, have conversations with their neighbours, and re-invigorate their fundraising so that they can continue to build and support the great community we live in.”

Fundraising volunteer groups that participated in the program during the 2022-23 season were offered a $50 donation to their cause for each volunteer provided at Attack home games during the 2022-23 season. Groups that participated in the Attack’s usher program this season include: The Optimist Club of Sydenham & District, Scenic City Order of Good Cheer, Scenic City Lions Club, Rotary Club of Owen Sound, The Paisley and Tara Splash Pad Committees, Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound, Chesley Hospital Foundation, Hepworth and Shallow Lake Legion, Active Lifestyle Centre Grey Bruce, The Alzheimer’s Society of Grey Bruce, Big Brothers Big Sisters Grey Bruce, Elmwood Chamber of Commerce, and parents/volunteers from the U11 Gold Owen Sound Jr. Attack team.

Charitable groups and fundraisers interested in the program for the 2023-24 season of Attack hockey can look for the form to apply on the Attack website once the 2023-24 OHL season schedule is released.
