Attack Swap Prospect for Pick with Sting

The Owen Sound have dealt defensive prospect Mitchell Young to the Sarnia Sting for a conditional 12th round pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection Draft. The pick shifts to a 6th round pick in the ’23 draft should Young play a game with the Sting.

Young was a 7th round selection by the Attack in the 2021 Priority Draft, coming out of the Waterloo Wolves AAA program of Alliance Hockey. In his U15 year with Waterloo, Young put up 18 points in 31 games played as he did show the potential to have some offensive output. Last season the Elmira, ON native split time between the Wolves U18 team and the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins of the GOJHL. Young would again be over a half a point per game producer with the Wolves, before exploding for 31 points in 35 games with the Siskins.

At the Attack’s 2022-23 training camp, Young was impressive during both the Rookie Camp portion, as well as looking more than capable with the main camp, trying to shutdown players such as Cedrick Guindon and Colby Barlow. A log jamb on the blue line made a player move inevitable, as the Attack currently have 8 solid defensemen on the roster. Attack General Manager Dale DeGray, who always believes in giving players their best opportunity to play in the league, saw the trade as good value for both the Attack organization and Mitchell Young himself.

The Attack wish Mitchell all the best as he joins the Sting organization and hope that he can enjoy a good hockey career.
