Bear’s can’t Overcome Slow Start

The Owen Sound Attack can’t overcome a 4-0 deficit in the third period, as they fell 5-3 to the Flint Firebirds in the teams first meeting since the seven game playoff series last season.
The Bears surrendered a pair of goals in each of the first two periods, as they struggled to get any sustained offensive pressure on the Firebirds.
It was Flint’s leading offensive producer who got things started, as Amadeus Lombardi opened the scoring just over three minutes into the game, and the home Firebirds would double their lead just over five minutes later.
Flint would double their lead again with a pair of late second period goals, as they stretched open a 4-0 leading after just 40 minutes of play.
Period three saw Owen Sound make the game interesting as, Deni Goure, Servac Petrovsky and Madden Steen each score a goal within the first five minutes of period three, as the Attack looked to build a comeback. As the Bears began to flex their own offensive muscles and push the pressure into the Firebirds end, it was just before the midway point of the period that Flint settled the game down, as they restored a two goal lead.
The Attack would try to reignite their offensive pressure, but it was the home Firebirds showing good defence, mostly their goaltender Nathaniel Day, as he stymied the Attack late in the game.
Owen Sound will round out their two game round trip as they visit Windsor tomorrow night to round out their weekend series with the Spitfires. The game can be seen on RogersTV or on CHL TV, or can be listened to live on 560 CFOS Bear Radio.
