Walters named Head Coach for U17

Attack Head Coach Greg Walters has been named a Head Coach for 1 of 3 Team Canada teams participating in the 2022 World U17 Hockey Challenge.
Walters joins Owen Sound native Mark O’Leary (Moose Jaw, WHL) and Bruce Richardson (Blainville-Boisbriand, QUE) as the head coaches of the three Canadian U17 teams – TEAM BLACK, TEAM WHITE, TEAM RED – for the U17 Hockey Challenge set to take place in Langley and Delta, B.C. from Nov. 5-12th.
Having joined the Attack’s coaching staff this past season as Head Coach, Walters went an impressive 34-26-5-3 with a young Attack squad, while also being competitive in a hard fought 7-game playoff series against Flint.
This marks the fourth time Walters has been a coach with Hockey Canada, and the second as head coach. Walters was an Assistant Coach of the 2011 World Jr A Challenge silver medal winning Canada East team, while being the Head Coach in 2012 with Canada East, finishing fourth. Recently Walters was a Guest Coach at the 2019 National Men’s Summer U18 Selection Camp.
Walters, along with the other coaches named by Hockey Canada, will also oversee the U17 Development Camp taking place July 10-16 in Calgary. The Attack have 4 prospects heading to the camp, as this will provide a great opportunity for them to both impress their future coach in Owen Sound but also the Hockey Canada brass.
