Ice Dogs Bite Attack

The Attack made the trek to Niagara on Thursday night in hopes of putting a loss in Erie the night before behind them.

Much like Wednesday night, the Attack would be looking for a quick start, however; it was the Ice Dogs that would get on the board fast and furious. Carter Verhaeghe would strike first for this Ice Dogs, beating Jack Flinn to give the home team a 1-0 lead. Verhaeghe struck again just two minutes later while Brandon Perlini scored at exactly the 10:00 mark to give the Ice Dogs a 3-0 lead and chase Flinn from the game.

Strong words were most likely had in the Attack room during the intermission and the Attack responded accordingly. Jaden Lindo jammed home his 2nd of the season to pull the Attack within two goals. From there, Niagara would continue to bite back and it was Brandon Perlini recording the natural hat-trick as he tagged on his 2nd and 3rd goals of the night to give the Ice Dogs a 5-1 lead heading into the 2nd intermission.

The third period treated the Bears no better. Jordan Maletta would pounce on a loose puck and extend the lead to 6-1 while Graham Knott did the same, stretching it to 7-1.

With about five minutes to play, Kyle Hope drove hard to the net and was whistled for goaltender interference. Luke Mercer rushed Hope and the two exchanged fisticuffs. While this was going on, Chris Festarini and several Attack players began to take liberties with Brayden Rose and Brandon Hope rushed down from the other end to come to the aid of his teammates.

Gilbert Gabor would tuck his 1st of the season in during the dying seconds but it would be too little, too late.

The Three Stars of the Game were:

3) Luke Mercer (3A)

2) Carter Verhaeghe (2G,3A)

1) Brandon Perlini (3G, 2A)

The Attack is back in action on Saturday night when they return home to take on the North Bay Battalion. Bayshore Broadcasting will be presenting all of the action, which gets underway at 7:30pm.
